How society values service
The movement to defund the police as well as groups and individuals who vocally oppose the police and military can be very demoralizing to serving members.
Veterans and their families who have dedicated themselves to serving and protecting their country may feel that society doesn’t value the services and the sacrifices being made to protect them.
The media
The media typically focuses on sensational stories. Some may present the CAF and the RCMP in a positive light, while others are reported negatively. Sometimes the details are misreported or distorted, adding another layer of complexity.
It can be very difficult for those in the service, Veterans and family to see traumatic events they or the service member were part of shown repeatedly in the news. If there are investigations or inquiries, Veterans and their families may relive difficult or traumatic events over weeks, months, or even years, which can be very challenging.
